“GREEN” Spring Cleaning Tips That Even Mother Nature Would Love!

The sound of robins singing greets you in the morning. Tulips and daffodils are peeking through the ground. The sun is actually warm on the skin as you step outside. And with that, thoughts start turning to your home, and how you can make it bright as it is becoming on the outside. Whether it’s getting that kitchen re-model done before the summer vacation, BBQs and holidays, spring is the time we research and start these projects. As we are contemplating these projects-large or small-we need to look at “healthy” or eco-friendly alternatives when painting, buying furniture and accessories, or just re-arranging furniture! The difference employing healthy home design, and even feng shui, can make a difference in our mental, spiritual and physical well-being is amazing. Healthy home design is especially important for those who suffer from upper respiratory ailments, asthma, allergies and headaches, have or are expecting babies and/or have elderly parents living with them. Planning the Perfect Spring Break on a Budget

Every year, thousands of College students head to exotic island hot spots for spring break. Unfortunately, the recent economic conditions and the rise in the price of tuition have now left many students on a tight budget. Many students cannot afford the usual spring break exotic vacation destinations. Fortunately, there are many things a student can do to plan the perfect spring break vacation while on a budget.

1. When planning a spring break vacation, you should figure out how much you can afford to spend. Once you know how much you can afford, you can plan a vacation that will not have serious financial consequences. You should set the amount of money aside and stick to your budget. Do not take more money than you can afford to spend as you will likely spend it. As well, you should plan how you will spend your money on things like, transportation, food, entertainment, and other expenses. Wherever possible, use cash to buy your items instead of a credit card. Spring Cleaning Checklist

Next on the agenda for many of us will be Spring Cleaning. It will be time to open the windows, air out the house, shake out the rugs, and do those tasks we do once a year to make our homes fresh and clean.

I have to admit, I was not taught to clean in my home. My grandmother would pay a visit several times a year, and spend a lot of the time cleaning our home. I never really understood it until I got older, and realized that the house needed it.

My mother was an artist, and cleaning was not her forte. When one of my older sisters got married, my grandmother came to visit her, and she taught her how to clean house.

I remember how surprised my sister was when my grandmother climbed up a ladder to clean off the top of the moldings over the doors. She asked her why in the world she would climb up and clean a place that nobody could ever possibly see. Read the rest of this entry »
